Ultra-wide input 15W DC/DC converter in a 50 x 25 mm package
XP Power announces its new JTH15 series of 15 Watt DC/DC converters. Fitting into a metal cased compact 50.8 x 25.4 mm (2 x 1 inch) footprint, they are suited to low power, board mounted designs. The series can accommodate a wide 4:1 range of input voltages, from 9 - 36 VDC or 18 - 72 VDC. Both single and dual output versions are available. The single output device is available with +3.3, +5, +12 or +15V rails, while the dual version has +/-5, +/-12 or +/- 15 outputs.
Models are fully regulated, with a line regulation of +/-0.5% and a load regulation of +/- 0.5%, 10-100% load. Input to output isolation is rated at 1,500 VDC. The JTH15 series will suit most environments without the need for additional heat sinking or airflow. The units operate from -40 degrees C to +100 degrees C, with derating above +60 degrees C. The converters have a high MTBF of >1.2 million hours to MIL-STD-417F for long life and high reliability.
With such a wide input range the converters are suited to a broad range of wireless, communication and industrial applications. The converters also offer the customer the option of a more powerful, drop-in replacement for older 10W converters with the same footprint. Another example is that of a customer application capable of being powered off two different battery voltages, 12 or 24VDC. Using the JTH15 series, the same converter can be used in either system, rather than having to specify a different converter for each one. For designs that might require it, an optional remote on / off feature can be incorporated.
